Many Federal agencies in Canada have vision standards for employees that must be met before application.

Canadian Vision Standards 2016 provides a summary of federally mandated vision requirements for the year 2016-2017. Remember that these standards are under continual revision so that the requirements outlined in this paper may not be the most current version. You should consult with the individual agency if there is any question regarding a particular standard. Companies, which are regulated by the federal government, may have more stringent standards than those outlined in this document.

This includes vision standards for: Seafarers, Canadian Forces, Canadian Forces Aircrew, Railcrew Personnel, and Civil Aviation.  Please note that the vision standards are always changing and patients should contact agencies for information on the most up to date standards and testing procedures.
